Leslie ringing the old school bell, summer 1975 |
Norma in her gallery, early 1980s |
Working from his home in East Barnet, north London from the 1960's onwards, and from mid-1973, at the Old School Studio & Gallery in Blaenporth, Cardiganshire, my father Leslie created a phenomenal range of paintings, drawings, illustrations and heraldic works. This in addition to a full-time post as the art & design teacher at Finchley's Christs College grammar school, to which he commuted weekly from Wales until he finally retired in July 1974.
Following his death in 1975 my mother Norma picked up his paint brushes and carried on, creating her own distinctive works until approaching 80 years of age, she sold the studio & gallery and moved back to Hawarden in north Wales, the village she was born in.
Here you can find many (but by no means all) of the works of art they created between them and read more about Leslie's later life as an artist.
